Lady Antonia

Lady Antonia brings the colour and refinement of the Italian Renaissance to House Corvus. Her persona — a gentlewoman of late-fifteenth-century Florence — opens onto one of the most dazzling moments in European history.
Persona Background
Antonia's persona is set in Florence around the 1480s, in the age of the great merchant families and the flowering of Renaissance art. A gentlewoman of this world moved through a society obsessed with beauty, learning, and display — where dress, dance, and manners were arts in themselves. Choosing so specific a time and place lets Antonia study the Renaissance not as a vague idea but as a lived daily reality.
Renaissance Dress
The clothing of Renaissance Italy is among the best documented of any pre-modern era, thanks to the portraits of the period. Antonia studies the layered gowns, the sleeves laced on separately, the fine fabrics and the headdresses — recreating them from the evidence of paintings and the handful of surviving garments. The portraits themselves, by masters of the age, are freely studied today through collections like the National Gallery.
Dance & Courtly Arts
Fifteenth-century Italy also gives us some of the earliest detailed dance manuals in Europe, written by dancing masters for their noble pupils. These survive in enough detail that the dances can be reconstructed and performed — and they are, joyfully, at Society events. Antonia studies and teaches these balli, along with the etiquette and courtly graces that surrounded them.
