Houston House
Uphall, Lothian, Scotland

[Saturday - 10/22/94] Built in the early 17th century, and standing in 20 acres of magnificent gardens and grounds, Houston House was truly an outstanding property deserving of its reputation. It was the perfect place to start our adventure and the presence of a large, traditional Scottish wedding promised exciting adventure ahead.

Ideally situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh with easy access to the city, it had a subtle charm and ambience that inspired all of us. Both the grounds and rooms were first rate and the food - my God! Renowned chef David Murray prepared the most amazing foods! This 17th-century Scottish Laird's Tower House had poster beds, antique furniture, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere that emphasized friendly and hospitable service. It also had excellent, historical public rooms.
